Hot Oil Treament

As of this past Sunday, I finally buckled down and did the Hot Oil Treatment. In my hair journey, my whole basic life, I've struggled with keeping my Fine hair moisturized, even when I was a Relaxed Head. My hair, like many with fine or thin hair, don't need alot of moisture, but if not enough, obviously dry, and doesn't take to much to over saturate. Soooo, for that to not happen, I opted on the Hot Oil treatment. I'm still trying to work on the process of the getting it right...lol...but Here's what I did.

Materials:

100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil (any brand will do)
100% Pure Virgin Coconut Oil (GNC $6.00)
A Ketchup Squirt Bottle (any type of bottle with a nozzle is good. Got mine from the Grocery Store for $1 :-) )
2 Towels
Plastic Shower Cap
A Hooded Dryer
Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Shampoo (or any of your choice)
Garnier Fructis Moisture Works Conditioner (or any of your choice)

Instructions:

1. Pour 1/2 cup of Olive Oil and 1/4 cup of Coconut Oil into squeeze bottle.
2. Set into microwave for 20 seconds
*3. If you are NOT using a hooded dryer, place a small towel in a bowl of hot water.
3. Detangle hair, with whatever detangling agent you use. Wash, condition, detangle, and rinse.
4. Put your towel around your neck, and proceed to part your hair in 4 sections.
5. Please make sure you test the oil on your forearm to see if it is at the right temperture. Please do so guys! We dont need any burnt natural divas! :-p
6. Take the nozzle of the bottle and at a angle gently add the oil to your scalp.
7. Take the oil and saturate the hair all the way toward the ends. I make sure I focus alot on the ends.
8. Place the plastic cap on.
*9. If you have a hooded dryer, sit under the dryer at Medium-Low heat for 15 minutes. Or for those using a wet towel, wrap the wet towel around your cap for 15 minutes.
10. After the 15 minutes, wash the oil out.
* Now some people leave it as is...I didn't like the smell of it, so I co-washed after wards.

After I cowashed, I noticed my hair was significantly more moisturized and also soft. I plan on doing this to my daughters hair, as a matter of fact, and plan on doing this weekly. Also what I plan on doing, is putting more essential oils in the Treatment, as to stimulate my hair more and to hide the smell... I'm sorry I just can't get with the Olive Oil smell...lol...

Ordering some oils now!

My Big Chop!

*Sigh*

Well, I've come to the decision, that after two years of transitioning, and 4 months of all natural...I'm going to chop off the rest of my ends...

I'm nervous, excited, scared...lol...everything...BUT I'm looking forward to it. I also plan on dying the front of my hair...SEMI PERMANENT, because I don't want to Chemically alter my hair...lol...

but yea... menatlly preparing for it now...hopefully by Saturday I'll muster enough strength to actually do it...lol...
